Paying respect to the past, respecting Youth Day

While a lot of people see Youth day as just another public holiday, we don’t. We know that Youth day should be the most important day of the Year. In fact, it should be two days. While some people will be spending their Youth days at Constitution-hill. Paying homage to the brave students that had the guts to fight for the right to a good education.

Some of us will be showing our respect for the right to good, education by studying for our exams. Quietly hoping that someone will give us a cup of tea and maybe a cookie. Others will be going to the many different events organised for youth day across the country.

However, you chose to spend your youth day, even if it is working in a shop to pay your bills. Remember that an education is worth sticking in.

Consider how you can make a difference in your community. Youth helping youth is by far the best thing that we can do in order to create a united country where people genuinely care about those around. If you aren’t sure how you can create a difference, after all, what can one person achieve on their own? Consider paying it forward, even if you can only do three small things to help someone. From explaining maths homework to the kids next door or helping your granny with her washing.

To celebrate Youth day we have made two wallpapers for you to download. One to pay respect to the past and one to show hope for the future. If you want to download them, all you need to do is click on them that they open fully and then click save the image.

What will you be doing this youth day?
