Huawei has now entered SA’s PC market with the introduction of the HUAWEI MateBook D14 and D15 laptops. Both priced at under R13,500, these laptops are bringing a whole new element of Huawei’s all-scenario ecosystem to South African consumers. In this ecosystem, the smartphone acts as the hub, connecting health wearables, tablets, PCs and the smart home to deliver an inclusive, intelligent experience.

Using an office scenario as a starting point, the HUAWEI MateBook D series of laptops bring flexibility for users to use multiple products in multiple scenarios. Huawei has created a series of PC products that bring an all-scenario and smart life experience to consumers, enabling them to get the most out of their devices.

The HUAWEI MateBook D series has multiple features that make these laptops ideal for work.

Extend your view with the stylish HUAWEI FullView Display

Equipped with the HUAWEI FullView Display, the HUAWEI MateBook D 15 laptop delivers a fully immersive experience. The top and side bezels are only 5.3mm thick, resulting in an 87% screen-to-body ratio – the highest yet on a HUAWEI MateBook D product. The HUAWEI MateBook D 14 has an 84% screen-to-body ratio. The enhancements made to the small details – such as the thinner bezels and recessed camera – allow Huawei to further shrink the form factor of the laptops, further improving their portability.

The HUAWEI MateBook D 15 laptop sports a 15.6-inch, 1080p FHD IPS screen with anti-glare protection. The HUAWEI MateBook D 14 laptop, on the other hand, has a 14-inch screen. The 178-degree viewing angle and 16:9 aspect ratio make the display the perfect candidate for showing cinematic content. The 5.3mm-thin bezels at the top and on the sides, the 1920×1080 resolution and the anti-glare matte screen make it so that all details are vibrantly reproduced on the panel.

Intelligent connection made easy with Huawei Share

Huawei remains steadfast in its commitment to improving user experiences. One such innovation is the Huawei Share feature. Huawei Share allows MateBook laptops and Huawei smartphones to establish a connection with just a tap. Users can take advantage of this feature to achieve higher productivity at work.

Here are just some Huawei Share features that will come in handy in work situations:

  • File transfer – Drag-and-drop file transfers don’t require internet connectivity or third-party app support. To initiate high-speed file transfers, users only need to drag their files towards the other device.
  • File sharing – To facilitate cross-platform text editing work, Huawei devices and HUAWEI MateBook laptops support Clipboard Sharing. Duplicating or copying text is made easy – users need only copy (or drag) the text across. The feature supports high speed transfers with no limits on file size.
  • Drag-and-drop editing – When editing documents on one device, users can drag images from another device and place them directly on the document that is being edited. Once they have finished editing, they can drag the file towards another device to transfer the file to the other end.
  • Hardware collaboration – Consumers can use the mouse and keyboard to navigate their smartphone on the PC interface and do all the activities they are used to doing on the phone, such as reading the news or watching videos on Tik Tok. In addition, the laptop speakers can also be used to play media on the phone.

Innovative technology that lets you work at maximum efficiency

The HUAWEI MateBook D 15 and D14 AMD edition laptops feature an AMD Ryzen™ 5 3500U processor and Radeon™ Vega 8 Graphics to ensure the PC easily delivers top performance across various user activities at work and in play.

In laptops, performance and thermals go hand in hand. The HUAWEI MateBook D 15 and D 14 laptops include a new version of the HUAWEI Shark Fin Fan. Featuring s-shaped fan blades that were designed to optimise air flow, the HUAWEI Shark Fin Fan 2.0 cools the laptop in a more systematic fashion than its predecessor.

Equipped with 8GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory, the HUAWEI MateBook D 15 and D 14 laptops have enough memory to handle most high load apps on the market. Compared to single-channel memory, dual-channel memory supports up to 50% higher data transfer speeds.

Every HUAWEI MateBook D series laptop is equipped with two storage devices – one solid-state drive and one hard drive. They also support G-sensor, a hard disk drop protection technology that is usually reserved for commercial laptops. This acts like an airbag, protecting the hard disk in the event of a drop to prevent users from losing precious data.

To deliver fast and smooth wireless internet experience, a high-speed internet connection and a high-performance WLAN module are both equally important. The WLAN module on the HUAWEI MateBook D 15 and D 14 laptops support 2×2 MIMO, dual wireless antenna design, which can effectively receive WLAN signals and provide fast and stable connectivity.

In its pursuit of better user experiences, Huawei looks for ways to improve even the smallest details. The HUAWEI MateBook D series laptops replace the traditional bulky power brick with a 65W USB-C charger with detachable cables. This makes the charger much more portable, which is ideal for work on the go. It can also be used to charge other Huawei smartphones and tablets that are equipped with a USB-C port. The HUAWEI MateBook D 14 supports 9.5 hours of battery power in video playing mode, while the D 15 supports 6.3 hours.
